




(b. 1976, Bologna) is an acclaimed Italian organist, harpsichordist, conductor, composer and musicologist, recognized internationally for his Bach interpretations. Trained in piano, organ, harpsichord, and musicology, he studied with Sergio Vartolo and won the G. GambiNational Harpsichord Competition in 1998.
As a soloist and conductor, he has performed widely in Europe and America, collaborating with ensembles such as the Vienna Philharmonic (2011) and Il Giardino Armonico (2023). He has been invited to prestigious venues like the Thomaskirche in Leipzig and the Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg.
Messori founded the ensemble Cappella Augustana, with which he recorded 19 CDs of Heinrich Schütz’s works and major Bach collections, earning awards such as 5 de Diapason. His discography also includes first complete recordings of Luzzasco Luzzaschi’s keyboard works and Johann Caspar Kerll’s organ and harpsichord music.
He has conducted performances of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, and Schütz across Europe, including staged productions and oratorios.
Active as a scholar, he has published studies in leading journals (MGG, Bach-Jahrbuch, Schütz Jahrbuch, Treccani) and prepared critical editions of historical keyboard music.
Messori has held teaching posts at the conservatories of Bergamo, Genoa, Venice, and Reggio Emilia, and has been visiting professor in Vienna and Poznań. He also composes for keyboard, choir, and chamber ensembles and frequently leads international masterclasses, specializing in historical performance and partimento practice.
